LogiSense Announces Large-Scale Wi-Fi Deal with Truckstop.Net

LogiSense Corporation announced today its EngageIP(TM) Hotspot Suite software solution has been implemented by Truckstop.net for the roll-out of their 802.11g wireless network (Wi-Fi). This will deliver high-speed Internet access at up to 3,000 truck stops, travel plazas, repair shops and terminals in North America. In November, Truckstop.net and Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) announced a multimillion dollar agreement that includes both network services and deployments. Truckstop.net will have 500 locations deployed with LogiSense's technology by the end of March, 2004, with approximately 200 locations per month over the next year. "The most relevant business models for 802.11 wireless deployments are those that provide high speed Internet access for transient, tech savvy workers", said Flavio Gomes, CEO of LogiSense, "Truckstop.net is the leading provider of Wi-Fi services to the most mobile industry in the world. In North America, 25% of all truckers currently use lap-tops to conduct their businesses and stay in touch while on the road; and that number is growing dramatically each quarter." The LogiSense EngageIP(TM) Hotspot Suite is an integrated software solution for Wi-Fi subscriber management that automates secure authentication, roaming, billing/payment, and provisioning of value-added services . The EngageIP(TM) architecture provides centralized command and remote control of large scale, multi-point Wi-Fi deployments. It incorporates both back office and network edge subscriber gateway capabilities, in an all-in-one solution that functions independently of access points. "We picked LogiSense because of their unique integrated billing and traffic management solution said Allan Meiusi, Vice President and COO of Truckstop.net " With this software in place, Truckers and Truck Operators have access to flexible internet access packages and new value-added services including Voice over Internet (VoIP) and fleet maintenance applications."
